Larry Woods, guitar player and songwriter, grew up in Fort Worth, Texas. He began playing guitar and writing songs at the age of fourteen. After graduating from high school he moved to Dallas to play with a country cover band, doing gigs around town and a few road shows. In Dallas, Larry met his wife Stacia, also a singer-songwriter, and they performed together as a duo at clubs like The Balcony Club, Club Dada, and The Sons of Herman Hall. In 1996 Larry and family moved to Blanco County in the Texas hill country. There Larry formed the original rock band Jamadillo with Dallas friend Brandon Aly, and bass player Steve Lamphier. In 1998, Brandon and Steve began playing in Zydeco Blanco with Leif Oines and Harvey Trahan. Larry, after catching the zydeco bug at a Boozoo Chavis show, asked if he could be in Zydeco Blanco as well. Larry rounds out the band with rhythm and lead guitar, including slide riffs on electric dobro. Larry also helps out writing songs such as the crowd-pleaser "Even Cowboys (Like Zydeco)". |
